Mamuska Nights is an independent organisation dedicated to the creation of socially meaningful arts events and the development of collaborative networks.
Its mission is rooted in a genuine sympathy for artists and audience alike, bringing the two in close proximity, eradicating clichéd representational rituals and redefining the social relevance of contemporary arts.
Mamuska Nights is a space for encounters, where to be inspired and socialise; an inclusive social dance capable of opening creative possibilities.
Each night presents a programme of raw ideas, minimalist perfections, unrehearsed visions, trials and errors, short masterpieces, playful nonsense, conceptual research, first steps… all in the backdrop of a informal environment where people feel free to move around, chat and enjoy a drink with whom is near them. However Mamuska remains a unique arts platform, it is not a cabaret night, a talent show or a speaker’s corner.
Italian artist and curator Davide Terlingo conceived Mamuska Nights in 2004 to propose an alternative to the architecture and conventions of traditional performance languages. His aim was, and remains, to provide a focal point of reference for artistic development and experimentation, yet retaining a sense of easiness and informality capable to step away from the tired expectations of “going out to theatre” and “viewing/presenting a show”.
Originally launched as a local platform for the Limerick based Daghdha Dance Company, with the years, its visionary and yet informal style has become extremely successful catapulting Mamuska Nights into an international network, whose vitality is tapping into a clear demand for new forms of meaningful artistic production and programming.
